MIZUHO’s Pursuit for the Best

Welcome to Kusatsu Onsen!

Mizuho is a restaurant located right next to Yubatake, the main area of Kusatsu Onsen.

During the day, we serve Udon made from local ingredients, and at night we serve various dishes using select ingredients, Izakaya-style (Japanese pub-style).

We dedicate each day, to our customers. For everyone from long-distance travelers, to neighbors to enjoy our delicious foods and drinks. We often see customers getting along with each other within the restaurant as well.

We strive to become an Izakaya, that puts smiles on people`s faces, connects people, and where people feel glad they visited Kusatsu Onsen, and leave with a promise to come back to this small town someday.

Our Selective Ingredients

The vegetables we use are fresh hand-picked, local, highland vegetables from Gunma Prefecture (Kuni Village, Tsumagoi Village), and Nagano Prefecture (nearby places such as Karuizawa).

Our “Ginhikari” (translates to `Silver Light`), is top class rainbow trout, bred locally.
We also have in stock, “Jyoshu Beef”, proudly produced in Gunma Prefecture.

Our chef, Shun Yoshida, puts it all together, Japanese and Western-style with his refined cooking skills, trained at a famous Italian restaurant in center-Tokyo. His experience and skill, meet to take our local ingredients to a whole new level.

Selective Alcoholic Drinks

Mizuho is also very particular about our alcoholic beverages.

First, Shochu, Japan’s most popular distilled liquor (made from various ingredients including buckwheat, potato, rice, etc.)
Our owner, Kenji Yoshida, has hand-picked a variety of shochu over the many years, from popular brands to extremely rare brands.

We have a tasty order made shochu, “Tenshu no Yuuwaku” (Temptation of the shopkeeper), which is a play on “Tenshi no Yuuwaku” (a famous shochu meaning `Temptation of an angel’).

Asides from shochu, we have also served Yebisu on tap since our establishment, back when Yebisu was hard to find in private restaurants. Also, we hope you enjoy our collection of rare whiskeys and Japanese Sake.
